The pieces and the animals

What makes a piece "pet-friendly" on this site?

It passed the six checks on our How we choose page: the materials are stated, it can be cleaned properly, the construction suits an animal, it is new and ships from a US maker, the maker stands behind it, and it fits the room. Every listing shows the specifications those checks rely on.

Is anything here proof against a pet?

No, and we will not claim it is. A tight weave gives a claw less to catch, a waterproof liner keeps a spill out of the foam, and a washable cover fixes what got through. That is the honest extent of it. What performance fabric does and does not do.

Which dog bed is right for my dog?

Start with how your dog sleeps: curlers like a round bed or a raised edge, sprawlers need a long flat surface, older dogs do best on orthopedic foam, and dogs who run warm like a raised mesh bed. How to choose a dog bed.

How do I choose a crate size?

Your dog should be able to stand, turn and lie stretched out inside. Compare their measurements with the crate's inside dimensions, which every crate listing gives. What to check before you buy a furniture crate.

Which fabric is best for a cat that scratches?

Microfiber, short-pile synthetic velvet, or a tight flat weave in synthetic yarn. Avoid anything with loops: bouclé, tweed, chenille, loose linen. The full explanation.

Do the covers come off?

Each listing says which covers are removable and whether the maker rates them machine washable. Most of our cushion dog beds have a zip-off cover that machine-washes cold over a waterproof liner. Covers versus stain-resistant finishes.

Are the dimensions accurate?

Yes. We publish the maker's measured dimensions on every product page, and where a measurement is not published we say "not stated" rather than estimating.

Are these made to order?

Most pieces are new and already built, held at the maker's US warehouse. A few are made in the maker's workshop after you order. Either way, the product page gives the delivery estimate for that piece.

Shipping & delivery

Where do you ship from?

Each piece ships directly from its maker in the United States. We do not hold stock ourselves.

How is shipping calculated?

At checkout, from what is in your cart and your address. The figure you see before you pay is the figure you pay. Full details are on the shipping policy.

How long does delivery take?

It depends on the maker. Every product page shows the estimate for that piece. Once it ships, the tracking we email you shows the live estimate. We would rather quote long and surprise you early.

Returns & refunds

What is your return policy?

Most pieces can be returned within 30 days; pieces marked Final sale on the product page cannot be returned for a change of mind, though damage and defects are always covered. It is all set out on the refund policy. If you are unsure whether something qualifies, email us before you order and we will tell you plainly.

What if something arrives damaged?

Photograph it, ideally at the door before the driver leaves, and email us. Damage claims go to the maker with us handling the conversation, and you will not be left to sort it out alone.

Ordering & help

How do I reach a real person?

Email support@eraandcohome.com. Questions about fit, fabric and delivery are answered by someone who knows the pieces, not a script.

Can I change or cancel an order?

If it has not shipped yet, almost always. Email us as soon as you can and we will catch it.

Will you tell me if a piece is wrong for my animal?

Yes. Tell us the breed, age and habits and we will say whether a piece will hold up, including when the honest answer is that it will not.
